How to choose the right type and specification of cable?

When designing or procuring cables, the first consideration should be the operating environment and electrical characteristics, such as rated voltage, rated current, rated temperature, and application scenario. The conductor cross-sectional area (AWG) must be able to withstand the actual operating current to avoid overheating or excessive voltage drop. Secondly, suitable insulation and sheathing materials must be selected based on environmental conditions: PVC is suitable for general indoor applications, while fluoroplastic cables are heat-resistant, waterproof, oil-proof, and chemical-resistant.

For outdoor or automotive applications, UV resistance, waterproofing, oil resistance, and weather resistance must also be considered. Finally, a precise structure must be designed according to the connector terminal type, cable length, and tolerances to ensure a perfect match between the cable harness and the system port and maintain long-term stability.
